America’s Next Top Model? {Greendale Area Senior Photographer}

My awesome 2012 senior, Kiersten from Greendale High School had her portrait session last night, and at the end of the session we were laughing and talking about how models must suffer for their craft, which led to a brief discussion about the TV show America’s Next Top Model and Kiersten doing a perfect imitation…

an update on my dad

A lot of my clients have known of my dad’s struggle with brain cancer.  Some were only aware because of my promotion of my Portraits of Hope events both this year and last, which were efforts to raise money for the American Brain Tumor Association.  Others were aware of more details because they were kind…

Dear Lisa,
What a beautiful tribute to your Dad! Your video is very touching and it will be a treasure to you forever.

I know the pain of losing a loved one as special as you have. I know you can’t see him when you look in all those farmiliar places you once did-and that is very difficult-but BELIEVE that he is with you always! And not only in memories-he is still ALIVE in a far greater way than you can ever imagine!

My only comfort comes in knowing I will see the people I love who have gone before me again one day. I know this is fresh-the pain is unbelievable-it remains that way for me also. I think of you often and continue to pray for you, your Mom and all who knew and loved your Dad. If you ever need a friend-I am always here for you. Love Kathy Nyman

Ive been wanting to say something to you about your dad but haven’t known what to say. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a great man. I hope someday we can connect again.

As always, with all your art, the video is beautiful. The last time that I saw your mom I told her that there was something that I read in a Time magazine as I was sitting in a doctor’s office. It was right after my dad had died and the words said everything that I was feeling. I wrote them down but did not remember where I put that piece of paper. I spent one afternoon, but I did find it. The words were written about Pope John Paul II, but they fit all fathers who were truly loved.

“When your father dies you feel smaller because he was so strong, and he lifted you, carried you and taught you. And when he goes, the room feels too big because he is not there.” That truly is your dad.

Love
Micki

Kathy, thank you for your kind words and kindness through all of this. It’s comforting to know there is someone who understands so well what my mom and I went, and are still going, through.

Ashley, thank you for posting. It’s nice to know that my dad made a positive mark on your life; if even in a small way.

Micki, I happened to read your comment only minutes after my mom had given me my dad’s watch, which made me cry because looking at it and holding it brought back so many memories of my dad and the loss felt so painful. So, to then read your comment was very emotional. Thank you for sharing the quote and for being a dear friend of the family all these years.
